It's A Sign

Some days, you're out running errands on a regular old Tuesday and something jumps out at you from a store window. It speaks to you without saying a word. It makes you stop, pull out your phone and take a picture. Just so you can remember...especially on the lousy days!
Remember, you only get one!

Her Note

I have  no idea why she wrote this paper. It's not like she doesn't forage in the pantry every time she is over at our house. The skinniest, tiniest of the three and yet she snacks constantly! The wild look in those eyes just cracks me up!
Don't mess with Abbey! She always (almost) gets just what she wants!! Woe the person in her way!!

Guess Who??

Much to my great surprise, I received an email from a lady at the Tustin Chamber of Commerce on Monday informing me that I had placed FIRST in my age group (out of 22) at the Leprechaun Leap 5K on Sunday!! She said she was sorry I wasn't on hand when they announced my name and handed out medals. She had my medal waiting in the chamber office. When I went there, she insisted on putting it around my neck which was really sweet of her, but before she did, she said she needed to see my ID because she thought I lied about my age. I couldn't be in the 60-64 age bracket!!! Ummm, okay a first place medal AND a huge complement. It made my day!!
This all proves what my dear friend, Carol, always says, "You don't have to get faster, you just have to get older and into the next age bracket!!"
Oh, Carol, you are so right!! Old broads rule!!!

Rusty

The girls were in their school variety show Saturday night. Sean and Amber and friends from San Jose were coming straight from a hockey game to make the performance. We needed to save ten seats. Rusty, who is never far from Abigail's side for the past two and a half years, was there, of course. Thank goodness we didn't have to buy him a ticket! He did come in handy as I walked down the aisle placing "reserved" signs on the chairs, as you can see.
Rusty gets to go lots of places. He has also been left at a lot of places ~the car wash, Grammie and Pa's house, the hockey rink, the store. Pa is usually the one who gets the phone call, day or night, goes and finds him and drives him to Abbey. We have managed to rescue him each and every time he has turned up missing, much to the joy of Abbey and the relief to us.
I don't want to live in Abbey's world if Rusty is not close by....scary!!
She would be un-bearable!!!

I'm Fine

I would never consider myself a liar. Something that is important to me is knowing that the people around me are honest and truthful, but this quote made me pause and consider that, perhaps, I too, am a liar more than I realize. At times, we all claim to "be fine" when we are far from it! We answer, "How are you?" with "Fine." Isn't that what people want to hear? Do you really want to unload your worries, problems and sadness on someone else who innocently asks, "How are you?" Do they REALLY want to know the real answer to "How are you?" Do you really want to hear someone else's answer to that question? Is it just social and polite to ask? Is it just easier to answer, "I'm fine."
Sometimes, I am not fine! How about you?

Three Things

Ralph got it right! Personally, I like that silly is first among the list. Too many people forget how to be silly.  Jokes today are often mean-spirited and at someone's expense. Silly is just that ~ silly. Nobody gets hurt. Everyone has fun. There is too little silly in the world today. It has been pushed aside by sad and sarcastic. Reject the norm! Bring silly back! If you are not sure how to be silly, hang out with kids. They are good teachers of silly and they don't charge for the lessons!
